Lectures:
Dr Tobias Schmitz has made a name for himself in particular as an expert on historical picture frames from the Renaissance to Neoclassicism. He has been invited to give lectures are many different institutes, including:
November 16th and 17th 2007:
ÖRV (Austrian restorers' association) in Vienna: 2 day seminar on "The history of picture frames from the Renaissance to Neoclassicism" and the evaluation of contemporary framing procedures in museums from the aspect of authenticity. July 8th 2009:
One day seminar at the Bookbinder college in Stuttgart (a member of the Chamber of Trade since 2010) on the history of the picture frame from the Renaissance to Neoclassicism
October 16th 2009:
Lecture in the rooms of the framing and restoration workshop of Elke Traxel in Murnau at the Staffelsee on picture frames of the 19th century, with an accompanying exhibition of original picture frames frem Neoclassicism, Biedermeier, Romanticism, Historicism and Jugendstil (partly from the author's collection).
